Hands-on History

The Algonquians (K-5th grade)

Students study the Alqonquian Indians, the Native Americans who lived in the Albemarle area. Artifacts, reproduction paintings, weapons, and vocabulary are presented for the students information and enjoyment. There is a curriculum guide available to complement the program..

From Fiber to Fabric (3rd-5th grade)

This visit to the world of yesteryear looks at the process of transforming fibers into fabric. Artifacts include sheep shears and carders, a spindle, and more. There is a curriculum guide available to complement this program.

A Child’s Life in the 19th Century (K-3rd grade)

Students will learn more about the chores, schools, discipline, entertainment, and other aspects of the lives of children who lived 150 years ago. A myriad of artifacts, toys, and other materials will be used as interpretive aids
