My dear Papa1–
I have just received your letter of the 1st and thank you so very much for your good wishes. I will try to take care of myself and will take no unnecessary risks. It is now reported that we leave here Tuesday morning early.2 I will write you further tomorrow about my address, etc.

Minton Hughes Dixon, Sr., “Papa” or “Judge” (1849-1923)
Father of Richard Dillard, George Brownrigg, MacDonald, Mary Elizabeth, and Elizabeth MacDonald Dixon. Prominent merchant in Edenton, North Carolina. Served as a Justice of the Peace, Recorder’s Court Judge, and city councilman. Married Sallie Dillard (1860-1910) in 1886.
