Nestled on the banks of the Pasquotank River, the Elizabeth City Rowing Club draws from the region’s rich maritime roots and a modern mission of community, discipline, and teamwork. Founded to bring novices and seasoned athletes alike onto the water, the club weaves the rhythmic sweep of oars into the timeless current of this historic harbor town. Rowing itself stretches back to ancient civilizations—Egyptian galleys and Roman vessels—developing in 17th-century England on the River Thames through races between professional watermen. Presented by Carol Terryberry, head coach of the Elizabeth City Rowing Club.
