NC Moonshine & Motorsports Historic Marker Dedication Ceremony

-

Join us as we host NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Secretary Reid Wilson, who will attend to unveil North Carolina's newest cultural trail.

Highlighting the state's unique, intertwined history of bootleg whiskey and stock car racing, the Moonshine and Motorsports Trail was designated in the 2021 state budget and created by the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.

The initial phase includes eight locations to be marked in 2023 as part of the North Carolina Year of the Trail. Additional sites will be added in the future.

The first eight trail sites are:

  1. NASCAR Hall of Fame and Museum in Charlotte
  2. North Wilkesboro Speedway
  3. Charlotte Motor Speedway
  4. North Carolina Museum of History in Raleigh
  5. Stone Mountain State Park in Alleghany County and Wilkes counties
  6. Occoneechee Speedway near Hillsborough
  7. Rockingham Speedway
  8. Museum of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City
